An actor, writer and director who is perhaps best remembered for playing Spock, the pointy eared half-Vulcan/half human character he portrayed in the popular television and movie series Star Trek (1966 TV; 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1989 films). His film work began in 1951 with the Queen for a Day. In addition to other roles in theater, film and television, he directed Diane Keaton in The Good Mother (1988), Ted Danson and Tom Selleck in Three Men and a Baby (1987), and Holy Matrimony (1994).
