A model and actress who started her career by performing in an Ivory Soap commercial when she was just 11 months old. By her early teens Shields was a top model and actress, working for Calvin Klein and landing roles in feature films such as Louis Malle's Pretty Baby (1978) and The Blue Lagoon (1980). After time off to attend Princeton, Shields returned to showbiz in a series of anti-smoking public service announcements, then landed the title role in her own television sitcom, Suddenly Susan (1996–2000). Some of her more recent films include The Weekend (1999) and the TV miniseries Widows (2002) and Gone But Not Forgotten (2004). She was married to tennis player Andre Agassi (1997–1999). In 2005 she and Tom Cruise had a famous feud concerning Shield's treatment of her postpartum depression.
