Sirtis attended the Guild Hall School of Music and Drama in her native England before heading for Hollywood. After months of unsuccessful auditions, she landed the role of Deanna Troi on television's Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–94) and in the movies based on the series: Star Trek: Generations (1994), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), and Star Trek: Insurrection (1998). She has also done stage work, including Loot at the Hartford Stage, and voiceovers for the Disney series Gargoyles (1994) and films, including Paradise Lost (1999).
